Body piercing is an art form... but can sometimes be taken to extremes! Mind you, I know it can be addictive, such as tattoos, but wow... some of these people take the cake!!

I intended to do a posting on just regular body piercing, but I kept coming up with pics of religious piercing rituals! In Thailand and India, many of these piercing are done during a festival, either to honour a god or, such as in Thailand, done during a Vegetarian festival in which people believe that if you get pierced it will keep away evil spirits and bring good fortune!

Google : scarification

Scarification is defined as making shallow cuts in the skin to leave a scar! Many African tribes use this method of scarification to apply some sort of design to a member's body. Some tribes see the human body as a canvas, and without any 'decorations' it is plain and incomplete. Below you will find pics from African tribes... and pics from modern day people who have taken this art form and brought it to the mainstream. Like tattooing, this is a permanent thing! The only difference is with tattooing your inserting ink into the layers of your skin, where as with this, you are removing pieces of skin, in order to scar!

Google : 80's hair

I'm really sad that I wasn't a teen in the 80's! Big hair, bright colours, tye-dye, lots of accessories... *sigh* I love it all!!

Google : fat kids

It's the McDonald's generation! You know, I've always been a chubby kid, but wow, I don't ever remember seeing kids as big as some of these in my elementary school!
